Speaker’s Bio

Many traders have been to a stock seminar, trade show, or investment presentation (after all, we host one here at Simpler). But have you ever seen a 12-year old in the audience? More than likely, not.

But almost 20 years ago, TG Watkins was that 12-year old, with his dad, in the audience of a two-day stock trading seminar learning how to use the software that was being presented. Even though the presentation was mostly over his head, he knew that this type of knowledge would be important someday. As a result, he was hooked.

Then came the daily routine of sitting down with his dad after work, looking at the stock market, and working together to manage his positions. They continued to go to local stock seminars to acquire advice and exposure from seasoned traders.

After graduating with his engineering degree, he set off to earn his Series 6 and 63 licenses, and then started his career as a financial advisor with New York Life. It was there that his knowledge about the financial industry really exploded. New York Life had an excellent and rigorous training program to make sure their advisors knew the products and market inside and out. His exposure to the countless types of people and businesses that he worked with during his time there gave him a wide view of the world we live in. This exposure and worldview would later turn into one of his strengths and a huge benefit to his trading game.

His long history of stock market trading inspired him to leave corporate life after a few years. He then went on to develop his proprietary Moxie Indicator™ and trading system.

After years of trading and presenting educational seminars, he decided to help more people by joining the Simpler team.

TG is now Director of Stocks at Simpler Trading where he delivers a pinpoint process to identify straightforward setups on stock charts regardless of market direction.

His simple chart checklist guided him to double his account in 13 months from $80k to $160k and he exploded a smaller $6k account to $20k in even less time.

Hi Ron,

I was recently introduced to another rule based trader that trades equities as well and may be a good fit for an upcoming speaker slot. His name is TG Watkins and he is a recent addition to John Carter’s stable of trader’s. He developed what he calls THE MOXIE METHOD. This methodology is very sound as well and he is a rule based trader that was influenced from being a pilot. He has this whole “checklist” mentality that he employs with his trades…..very very repetitive…which is perfect for a trading.

He has been running his own room at Simpler Trading for going on two years now and has really lit it up over the past 6 months. Taking an account from $1.2M to over $8M. As I said, he trades equities, so this was quite a feat….making a 6X move in an account in only a few months. The best part about this guy….He publicly publishes all of his trades in a trade log in his room. ALL TRADES…Winners and Losers for all to see. As you know, this is a very rare thing.

So I would like to offer him up as a potential presenter. I have been impressed by his diligence and overall trading acumen for a younger trader (in his mid 30’s) And I can’t stress enough….He does it using only equities! Plus he’s a great guy (never met him personally), works with his father who brought him into the trading world at a very early age.

TG’s setup is also very similar to Adrian’s and mine. He is more of a SWING TRADER, which was appealing to me and does not do any day trading. I like his methodology because he finds stocks that generate more ALPHA than the stocks I typically trade. Since Sept of 2019 to present, he has just over a 50% win ratio on close to 700 trades but his winners have averaged over 20% gains (close to 25% actually) and his losers have averaged just over 5% because of his strict rules about STOPS. That is why I added his service to my trade plan. His rule driven nature is also very appealing to me.

Hope you are doing well Ron. Thanks for keeping up with the webinars through Covid and have a Great 2021.

All the Best,
Mike B. (DTG Member)
